Airflow Visualization
At Filtech, we understand the critical importance of maintaining proper airflow within your cleanroom suite, as it directly impacts air quality and contamination control. As per USP 797 2022 guidelines, air returns in the cleanroom suite should be positioned low on the wall unless a visual smoke study demonstrates the absence of stagnant airflow.
Why Airflow Visualization Matters
Airflow within a cleanroom suite plays a vital role in ensuring the distribution of HEPA-filtered supply air and preventing the buildup of stagnant air. Proper airflow is essential to maintain the required air quality for pharmaceutical compounding, laboratory work, and other controlled environments.
Our Approach to Airflow Visualization
To verify and document the effectiveness of your cleanroom's airflow, we perform airflow visualization studies using advanced equipment such as the CBreeze smoke generator. This study is an integral part of our Cleanroom Certification process and provides critical insights into the distribution and movement of air within the cleanroom suite.
Key Objectives of Airflow Visualization
1. Assess Ceiling Returns: In cases where ceiling returns are present, the airflow visualization study ensures that the HEPA-filtered supply air is not compromised by ceiling exhaust, and that the supply air is effectively distributed throughout the room.
2. Detect Stagnant Air: The study helps identify any areas within the cleanroom suite where stagnant air may accumulate. Stagnant air can be a breeding ground for contaminants and compromises the quality of the air in the controlled environment.
Ongoing Monitoring and Compliance
Our airflow visualization studies are documented and included in your cleanroom certification report. In addition, whenever changes are made to equipment placement, HVAC systems, or HEPA filter units within the cleanroom suite, we repeat the smoke study to ensure ongoing compliance with air quality standards.
