How It Works
4 Steps to the Right Filter
01
Identify Your Application
Are you filtering air in an HVAC system, protecting hydraulic fluid, removing contaminants from a liquid process, or handling gas? The application determines the entire filter category.
02
Know Your Contaminant
Particulates, moisture, gases, bacteria, varnish, and chemicals all require different media and designs. The smaller or more hazardous the contaminant, the higher the efficiency you'll need.
03
Check System Requirements
Flow rate, pressure, temperature, and fluid viscosity narrow your options significantly. For air systems, also consider your HVAC fan's ability to handle added resistance from a higher-efficiency filter.
04
Match Efficiency to Need
Higher efficiency isn't always better — it costs more, loads faster, and may restrict flow. Choose the minimum efficiency that meets your air quality goals, compliance requirements, or equipment protection spec.
Medium PressureUp to ~1200 PSI — charge pump, pilot circuits
High PressureUp to 6000 PSI — inline, base-mount, critical circuits
Continuous / No ShutdownDuplex systems for uninterrupted operation
Recommended Categories
Standard HVAC Air Filters (MERV 1–8)
For general dust and particle protection in residential and light commercial settings. These filters are cost-effective, widely available, and suitable for most standard HVAC systems without adding excessive airflow resistance.
For commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, and environments with finer particulate concerns like mold spores, fine dust, and welding smoke. These filters offer a strong balance of efficiency and service life.
For hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, and sensitive environments requiring fine particle capture including bacteria, virus carriers, and combustion byproducts. Verify your system can handle increased static pressure.
For critical environments requiring ISO-classified air cleanliness. HEPA filters capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns and are required in surgical suites, cleanrooms, compounding pharmacies, and other critical spaces.
For capturing airborne contaminants at or near the source in manufacturing, welding, grinding, and machining environments. These systems and filters are designed for high dust loading and demanding industrial duty cycles.
For controlled environments requiring verified air cleanliness per ISO 14644, USP 797/800, or ASHRAE 170. Contact our team for application-specific guidance on filter selection and certification requirements.
For removing odors, VOCs, corrosive gases, and chemical contaminants from airstreams using activated carbon and other sorbent media. Used in museums, data centers, wastewater, industrial exhaust, and sensitive manufacturing.
For return-line, offline, and in-tank filtration applications. These assemblies protect fluid in the reservoir and handle fluid returning from actuators and motors before it cycles back through the pump.
For charge pump discharge, pilot circuits, and transmission protection up to 1200 PSI. DFE-rated elements available for validated performance under dynamic flow conditions.
For inline and base-mounted filtration in critical high-pressure hydraulic circuits up to 6000 PSI. Multiple housing series available to match flow rate, port size, and mounting configuration.
For critical systems that cannot be shut down for filter changes. Duplex assemblies allow you to switch between filter chambers while the system stays online — essential for continuous process applications.
For protecting hydraulic reservoirs, gearboxes, and tanks from moisture and particulate ingression through the vent. Available in standard, desiccant, and spin-on styles to fit virtually any application.
For monitoring fluid cleanliness, detecting varnish and contamination, and getting expert guidance on system condition. ISO code particle counters, patch test kits, and lab analysis programs available.
High-performance replacement elements compatible with major OEM housings. DFE-rated, ICB ion charge bonding, and Turbo-TOC options available for enhanced performance beyond standard elements.
For filtering water, coolants, chemicals, and industrial process fluids. Filtech carries liquid filtration systems and replacement filters for a wide range of industrial liquid applications.
For inactivating bacteria, viruses, and other biological contaminants in water and liquid streams without chemicals. UV systems are used in healthcare, food processing, laboratory, and water treatment applications.
For protecting compressors, meters, and downstream equipment from liquids, solids, and aerosols in natural gas and other gas processing applications. Includes pipeline pigging and field consultative services.
For removing oil, water, and particulates from compressed air systems to protect pneumatic equipment and processes. Includes inline filters, air intake filters, and dryers and desiccants.
