The primary purpose of these tests is to confirm that your biosafety cabinet is effectively integrated into your facility, aligning with industry standards and safety requirements.

Methods

Alarm Functions

Sash Alarms:

Our technicians ensure that sliding sash-equipped cabinets activate alarms when the sash is raised or lowered beyond specified heights, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
Audible and visual alarms will indicate deviations within ± 1 inch (25 mm) from the specified position.
We provide clear pass/fail results for the sash alarm test.
Exhaust Airflow Alarms and Interlocks:

Verification of the operation of exhaust airflow alarms and interlocks, where present, is performed during each field certification.
Audible and visual alarms are tested for response time in case of a 20% reduction in exhaust volume.
The internal cabinet fan(s) are interlocked to shut off within 15 seconds if a significant loss of exhaust volume is detected.
Results of the exhaust alarm test are documented as pass or fail.
Cabinet Alarm Systems (Type A1, A2, or C1)

Airflow Alarm System:

Testing of airflow alarm systems in Type A1, A2, or C1 cabinets is conducted to ensure they function correctly.
Verification includes reducing airflow velocity to the manufacturer's designated low alarm point and ensuring timely audible and visual alarm responses.
Pass/fail results are provided for the airflow alarm test.

Internal Supply/Exhaust Fan Interlock Alarm:

Supply fan interlock alarms in Type A1, A2, or C1 cabinets are tested to verify proper operation.
Interruption of the cabinet's exhaust fan and supply fan is observed within 15 seconds, along with audible and visual alarm responses.
Test results are reported as pass or fail.
Canopy/Duct Pressure Verification

Externally Exhausted Hoods:

We ensure that externally exhausted hoods maintain negative pressure in the canopy or duct.
Verification is done using smoke to guarantee that no air escapes into the room.
Test results are included in our comprehensive site installation assessment.
